However, one would wonder if Delrin is stronger than aluminum. Well, aluminum is technically much stronger than Delrin, but depending on the application, Delrin parts can replace certain aluminum parts. It offers high strength, stiffness and dimensional stability and overall durability, along with low friction and wear resistance. Delrin Natural Rod also offers high fatigue and creep resistance, resisting cracking and material deformation over time due to mechanical stress. Because Delrin does not use plasticization to achieve its hardness, it does not suffer from low temperature brittleness. Its impact strength at temperatures as low as -40°F is only 20% lower than at room temperature.

Delrin Acetal Rod in particular cannot be bonded to itself with any appreciable one-component bond strength. By saying Delrin, wher are referring to both acetal homopolymer and acetal copolymer. This is because one-part solvent-based adhesives do not properly dissolve the surface of Delrin plastic molds. Two of the most commonly used engineering plastics are acetal (known by many names such as Delrin and POM) and nylon, both of which offer a low coefficient of friction and excellent durability.
