Being hydrophobic, non-wetting, high-density and resistant to high temperatures, it is an incredibly versatile material with a multitude of uses, although it is perhaps best known for its non-stick properties. To remove the teflon tubing from your extruder you will need to press on the circular plastic clutch to loosen the holding of the tubing in place and then pull the tubing out. If you can't figure it out, unscrew the entire fitting from the extruder, and then use tools to apply more pressure to the coupler and pull the tube out.

Silicone-based lubricants are best for use on plastic surfaces. Teflon is therefore hydropshobic, meaning it repels water, allowing lubes containing it to be effective when wet. It is generally believed to have a Young's modulus of around 500 MPa while its tensile strength is between 14 and 23 MPa.
